HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON A Viking teenager named Hiccup lives on the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. The teen's smarts and offbeat sense of humor don't sit too well with his tribe or its chief... who just happens to be Hiccup's father. However, when Hiccup is included in Dragon Training with the other Viking teens, he sees his chance to prove he has what it takes to be a fighter. But when he encounters (and ultimately befriends) an injured dragon, his world is flipped upside down, and what started out as Hiccup's one shot to prove himself turns into an opportunity to set a new course for the future of the entire tribe.

A SHINE OF RAINBOWS A young boy struggles to find love and acceptance with his new family in this drama from director Vic Sarin. Tomas (John Bell) is an eight-year-old orphan living in a home for children without parents on an island off the Irish coastline. Tomas has become a target for bullies and knows little peace at the orphanage, so he's overjoyed when he's adopted by Marie O'Donnell (Connie Neilsen), a lovely and caring woman who takes the boy under her wing. However, while Marie shows Tomas plenty of kindness, the same cannot be said for her husband Alec (Aidan Quinn), who doesn't hide his disappointment with his frail new son. As Tomas tries to understand Alec and live up to his expectations, he finds a baby seal on the beach, and begins caring for the abandoned animal, showing it the compassion he's longed for in his own life. A Shine Of Rainbows was an official selection at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival.

PLANET 51 American astronaut Captain Charles "Chuck" Baker, lands on Planet 51 thinking he's the first person to step foot on it. To his surprise, he finds that this planet is inhabited by little green people who are happily living in a white picket fence world reminiscent of a cheerfully innocent 1950s America, and whose only fear is that it will be overrun by alien invaders--like Chuck! With the help of his robot companion "Rover" and his new friend Lem, Chuck must navigate his way through the dazzling, but bewildering, landscape of Planet 51 in order to escape becoming a permanent part of the Planet 51 Alien Invaders Space Museum. | Putumayo World Music re-releases French Caribbean and Caribbean Playground CDs featuring seven Haitian artists 100% of Putumayo’s proceeds to be donated to Haitian relief In response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti, Putumayo is re-releasing French Caribbean and its children’s CD Caribbean Playground and will donate all of its proceeds from each CD sold ($4 per CD) to The Red Cross for Haitian relief throughout 2010. Seven Haitian artists, including Michel Martelly, Haiti Twoubadou, Emeline Michel, Zin and Carimi on French Caribbean and Erna Letemps and Lole-Lolay on Caribbean Playground, contribute songs to these collections. "Music has helped Haitians survive their difficulties over the years," said Dan Storper, Putumayo CEO and Founder. "In 1976, I had the extraordinary experience of visiting this unique country and became a fan of its music, art and people. As a resident of New Orleans, I’ve witnessed how a city can come back from virtual ruin. Haiti will rise again!" Putumayo’s commitment to helping communities in the countries where the music originates has led to the label contributing more than $1 million dollars to worthwhile non-profit organizations around the world. With proceeds from Putumayo’s New Orleans CD, the company raised more than $200,000 for New Orleans artists and non-profit recovery efforts. Putumayo World Music was established to introduce people to the music of the world's cultures. In the past 17 years, the label has become known primarily for its compilations of great international music. For more information about Putumayo World Music, visit www.putumayo.com. |
