加拿大中文電台AM1470/FM96.1是隸屬於新時代傳媒集團的商營多元文化電台，於溫哥華廣泛地提供超過30種語言的廣播服務，包括華語、英語、西班牙語、韓語、印度語，以至荷蘭語、希臘、越南、菲律賓等語言，其中以中文廣播時段最長，每星期達至240小時。AM1470和FM96.1攜手為大溫地區華人提供一星期7日，每日24小時的國、粵語廣播，覆蓋範圍遠至東面Chilliwack、南至Victoria、西至Nanaimo、北至Squamish。

根據2001年溫哥華人口普查顯示，大溫哥華的人口為1,967,480人，其中華裔人口佔17.69%(約347,985人)，是少數族裔的最大社群。為了應付這個龐大的市場需要，加拿大中文電台AM1470於1993年成立，聯同於1997年成立以國語廣播為主的電台FM96.1，迅速發展成為全溫哥華最具影響力的中文電台。為了順應近年人口結構的變化，AM1470和FM96.1引進首屈一指的先進科技，接通世界各地，製作不同類型的節目以滿足聽眾的實際需要。

Established in 1993, Fairchild Radio Group is Canada’s only national multicultural radio network. With operations in Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary, Fairchild Radio has been serving the multicultural communities of Canada with three FM and two AM stations. CJVB-AM1470 is Vancouver’s most established, most complete multicultural radio station, and with the addition of CHKG-FM96.1 in 1997, Fairchild Radio has been able to target the fast growing Mandarin-speaking audience. Together the two stations provide 144 hours of Cantonese programming, 96 hours of Mandarin programming, plus broadcasting services to more than 40 ethnic communities in over 30 languages on a weekly basis.

Charity Events

加拿大中文電台緊貼世界大事，2005年為南亞海嘯災民籌籌得72萬加元善款，2008年聯同集團旗下各機構發起全國抗震救災大行動，為中國四川賑民籌得迎240萬加元善款。對於溫哥華本地社群，加拿大中文電台亦全力支持，如為加拿大救世軍籌募衣物的「寒衣送暖流」、加拿大防癌協會電台電話籌款及中僑百萬行等。

Fairchild Radio maintains close contact with our communities and provides support whenever possible. In May 2008 Fairchild Radio launched a nationwide campaign with other members of Fairchild Radio and raised close to 2.4 million dollars for the victims of the Sichuan earthquake. Other charitable events that we support include the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Walk with the Dragon, the Canadian Canacer Society Radiothon, and the Salvation Army Winter Warm Wave.

Functions and shows

加拿大中文電台不遺餘力推動多元文化、發掘加拿大音樂人才及培訓本地廣播人才。每年舉辦的「加拿大中文歌曲創作大賽」成功推動本地音樂創作風氣，不少參賽者已回香港或台灣發展，而這歌曲創作比賽亦曾多次高踞加拿大廣播人協會「金絲帶大獎之致力發掘加國人才」獎項中三甲。至於「FM96.1世界音樂巡禮」及其後推出的紀念CD亦曾奪得「金絲帶大獎之致力發掘加國人才」的冠軍，成績有目共睹。為紀念「FM96.1世界音樂巡禮」、「加拿大中文歌曲創作大賽」及由多倫多AM1430/FM88.9舉辦的「英文歌曲創作大賽」，加拿大中文電台推出多張CD專集，將這三個音樂盛會的三甲及優異作品收錄其中。

以廣播製作、主持為培訓重點的「後浪DJ訓練班」及「新聞廣播訓練班」，多年來成功培育多位獨當一面的廣播人，如黃大鈞、陳禮賢、文井、闋逸揚、Samuel Lin於香港及台灣從事廣播或演藝事業。而以訓練年輕人自信心的「陽光少女競選」、「Sunshine Boyz」及「Sunshine Nation」，冠軍均成為音樂錄影帶主角，並代表加拿大中文電台出席多個社區活動作親善訪問，而第一屆陽光少女亞軍楊洛婷於2003年度香港小姐競選中勇奪亞軍，為溫哥華爭光；而2004年Sunshine Boyz 冠軍辰亦儒、亞軍商皓翔及季軍利昂霖已簽約成為台灣可米製作旗下藝人，於台灣拍攝偶像劇。
